Cono Ariti, MSc

Cono Ariti is a consulting Biostatistician and Health Data Analyst working in industry, academia and the third sector. Cono has a special interest in statistical modelling, causal inference, randomised clinical trials, meta-analysis, and statistical epidemiology. Cono has a BSc in mathematics from Murdoch University, Australia, and an MSc in medical statistics from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM).
After graduating as a medical statistician Cono was a lecturer in medical statistics at LSHTM where he taught on the MSc in medical statistics and epidemiology. At LSHTM he conducted research in cardiovascular clinical trials and field epidemiological studies. Cono also spent time at the Nuffield Trust healthcare think tank as a senior research analyst evaluating the impact of healthcare interventions using large scale routinely collected data. Cono also spent time in the private sector working with McKinsey and Co and IQVIA in their healthcare consulting practices. Cono has published over 50 peer reviewed papers and is a reviewer for several journals primarily the Lancet and Age and Aging. In addition, Cono is also the statistical editor for the Journal of the College of Physicians.
Prior to moving into health research Cono was a consultant statistician and executive in financial services working for 10 years with MasterCard and Capital One in the US and UK.
In addition to his day job Cono is a Visiting Researcher at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) at Imperial College, and an honorary Senior Lecturer at Queen Mary University. For the past decade Cono has been the statistical advisor for the London based Manson Unit of Médecins Sans Frontières and he also supports the research efforts of other third sector organisations including an advisory role as a Senior Associate at the healthcare think tank the Nuffield Trust. Cono is also a passionate teacher of statistics and quantitative methods and is a lecturer on the European Education Programme in Epidemiology (EEPE) summer course as well as teaching on the distance learning MSc in epidemiology at LSHTM
